In August 2025 while driving home to California from Louisiana, the idea, “Storytime for Dogs” was hatched. A few days later, daydreaming on the sofa, the design of a “Dog-Eared” book to hold a treat found its way into the fold and we were off and running! Not so fast. The concept came quickly, the rest, not so much. Ahead lay waters we’d never chartered, patents, trademarks, book layout, book printing, international wholesale goods shipping, safety guidelines, warehouse rental, inventory keeping, business licenses…so much to learn. We’ve been happily married for twenty year and love spending time together, so the idea of creating a business together wasn’t scary, it was exciting. Sometimes too exciting. So much so that the pauses were painful. When creating a product from the ground up, there’s so much waiting - waiting for responses from companies and agencies, waiting for technical issues for find resolutions, and waiting for the correct time to submit this or that. But looking back, that waiting was important, as it gave us time to rethink our ideas, revise the visuals, and reboot our optimism when things looked grim. We’re happy to share our “pet” project with people who are looking for a perfect way to spend some more quality time with their pups. We hope you and your dog(s) enjoy reading them as much as we enjoy creating them.
